The production of industrial nitrogen is always made from air, in which O2 and N2 are separated, and the methods are mainly cryogenic air separation, molecular sieve air separation and thin film air separation.

(a) cryogenic air separation method Because the liquefaction and rectification of air is carried out at low temperatures, and the temperature is lower than -120 ° C, it is called deep frozen air separation method, referred to as cryogenic air separation method. The basic principle of nitrogen in this method is to separate O2 and N2 from each other by means of liquefaction and spermatosis according to their different boiling points. The separation process is roughly as follows; First, filter out the mechanical impurities in the air; Then, the air is compressed to the required working pressure, the air is removed from the moisture, carbon dioxide and acetylene and other impurities, the use of heat exchange to liquefy the air, through the distillation of liquefied air, so that it is separated and obtain different purity of nitrogen and oxygen. The process of separating air into nitrogen and oxygen products by cryogenic air separation method is shown in Figure 1-2. The chlorine gas product obtained by the cryogenic air separation process is usually called industrial nitrogen, and its purity is about 98~99,5%, or even higher. The purity of nitrogen produced by the improved oxygen generator can be increased to more than 99,9%. Cryogenic air separation nitrogen production is a traditional nitrogen production method, but its structure is complex, large device, difficult operation, equipment investment and management costs are relatively large, so it is generally used for large-scale industrial nitrogen production.
